Creating new custom Business Catalogs for extensible objects

Hi there

I am new to the community and have been looking at the other posts here, but there does not seems to be a direct answer to my question.

Referencing SAP Note: 2633830 - No Option To Create Business Catalogs in S/4HANA Cloud

At present we are not allowed to create new Business Catalogs. The Custom Catalog Extensions app will allow you to add extensible objects only to existing business catalogs.

In certain instances this would not be suitable and it would be great if there is the ability to use your own custom Business Catalog. (Please keep in mind that the idea here is not to build a custom Business Catalog by picking and choosing existing SAP delivered apps.)

Does anyone know if SAP is planning to enable a feature to build your own Business Catalogs for extensible objects in future?

Many thanks

Will

Hi Will,

Thank you for your patience with our response! I am afraid if we have any good news for you. I don't see anything concrete coming up in the next three releases in this direction. However, here is the link that helps your identify what are lined up in the next three quarterly releases: https://www.sap.com/products/s4hana-erp-cloud/features.html

Navigate to Product Roadmap. I am attaching an extract from the web page just in case if you have any trouble viewing them in browser. Please refer to page no:33 that illustrates what are all lined up in the Extensibility section.

Talk to you soon! Hope this helps.

Thank you! Amith Nair

Hi Amith

Perhaps you or someone in the Community can provide some insight for us. Our issue is related to the creation of Custom Business catalogs. My question: Is there a way to disable SAP delivered Apps in a Business catalog?

We have created several Apps in SCP (one for Timesheets and a couple for Projects). These Apps will be consumed by the end user in S4HC. The appropriate Fiori tiles were created in S4HC > Extensibility > Custom Tiles.

Issue: let me use the 'Timesheet' App as an example of the issue I have.

The custom Timesheet tile was created and must be associated to an existing SAP delivered Business catalog. We have identified that the Business catalog HCM - Employee Self Service

(SAP_HCM_BC_EMP_PC) would be appropriate place. This catalog has only one SAP delivered App - 'Manage my Timesheet'. If I were to assign my custom App tile 'Timesheet' to this catalog, end users will get confused as to which App to use. How can I mask or remove the redundant SAP delivered App for an improved end user experience, (other than the end user himself having to edit his Home Page).

Thanks

Will

Hi Will,

We have faced similar issues like yours.

This requirement has been already raised by me earlier on the SAP Customer Influence Portal. SAP has changed it to stage Review & Develop, however, the timeline for delivering this feature has not been specified. See below-

Hi Nitin

This is also under consideration here: https://influence.sap.com/sap/ino/#idea/233370

However it seems that this development has now been placed to status "Planned long-term". I do not see this functionality being available to us soon.
