Warehouse's material for resale in Professional Services

Dear Expert,

I would like to ask you this problem: for a customer project in profesisonal services, in addition to the performance of one or more employees, warehouse's materials can also be sold to the end customer. It's possible to do this by the professional services?

For examples,  purchased licenses this is possible using the expenses and the allocation from cost center to WBS element (J11 Scope item) but it does not seem possible for the warehouse's materials managed in for resale.

Any suggestion?

Kind regards

Simone

Hi Simone,

It is possible to complete the order to cash scope items BD9 or 1MC for example, and allocate the line items on the sales order to the WBS element of your project. When you complete the process (i.e. at the end of invoicing) the stock is depleted, and the costs of goods are posted to the project and revenues are related to the project. The invoice is generated out of SD module and so it's important that you manually select the appropriate business partner etc. but this is something you can explore further and see if it works for you.

Update (201901): Manually setting the PS WBS in a BD9 type OR sales order will cause inconsistency once revenue recognition is run, and so this should not be done. The ability to do this will be disabled as of 1902. Previous reply is still shown below for information but should not be done to avoid the inconsitency.

Hi Alberto,

Yes it works for me in a test. When you're entering the WBS element, is it on the line-item and not on the sales order header?

I've attached a document with a series of screenshots capturing the main steps in the test. For my project (John), I can do the BD9 type sale from stock referring the item to the WBS element for which I've set up billing (so in this example, there is a billing detail line behind JOHN.0.1)

The final two screenshots are some very cursory checks of the effects/tracking of this invoice posting. For example, the invoice doesn't show in the project factsheet, but it does seem to show in project actuals app. So again, please have a deeper look into the financial postings etc. to see if this is appropriate for you.

Hi Andrew,

first of all, thanks for your answer. We already tried to follow best practice "sell from stock" putting the WBS code in the sales order but we got an error in good issue about contabilization. It seems that the 2 areas( sales from stock and professional service) are not linked at the moment.

Do you try to implement this scenario?

Thanks in advance
