Configuration changes are applied to P System regardless of status.

Hi there,

We have been having an on-going conversation with SAP Support regarding an issue where unplanned changes were implemented to the P System (from Q). It turns out our understanding that only changes which have been promoted to "confirmed" are transported, is incorrect. Well, it is only relevant for the project go-live, during the Run phase (BAU) when you transport the change project SAP takes ALL changes, whether they have been confirmed or not.

This seems like a significant issue when you consider a) There is not a development environment, b) Many SSCUI apps do not have delete functions and c) you have to release the Change for every new release.

I would like to know how other people are managing this, and whether my understanding is correct.

Kind regards

Simon

Hi Simon,

I will have to agree with you to most part. But here is the thing: Before you can move from the Realize phase to the Deploy phase, you must confirm that the settings for mandatory SSCUIs are correct. However, THIS CHECK IS NOT DONE WHEN MOVING FROM DEPLOY TO RUN OR FROM CHANGE TO RUN. And then the subsequent process follows:

* You can click on Set Status for a selection of groups, for one group or for individual SSCUIs.

• The step is marked as Confirmed or Open. If all mandatory steps are confirmed in a group, the group is confirmed. You can still change the configuration after confirming it.

• You can filter for Open Mandatory Configuration Items on the items screen, select all configuration items and click Set Status.

When all mandatory SSCUIs in all countries are set to confirmed, it is possible to click on the Proceed to Deploy phase button at the bottom of the screen. A similar Proceed to Run Phase button appears in the Deploy phase.

Please refer to the Road map viewer where you can find the documentation that explains the same process page # 45-46

amiths.nair2 - Thanks for your response but I am not sure this information changes my original assumptions. Even with the new 1905 functionality it is still impossible to control the flow of changes to the P System (its either all or nothing). I have seen that SAPs recommendation is to update the text against the configuration items (SPRINT 2) to tag your change to specific sprint, however this is purely a free text update and not a programmatic tag (if that makes any sense).

I am rallying the Customer Success Manager to see if we can escalate this requirement.

Kind regards

Simon
