Hi Community,
Since 1902 Release, it’s possible to plan the units other than time in the work package of the project. In Plan Customer Projects app, in the work packages tab, you can add a “unit based” work package, and select a unit previously assigned to a resource.
However, if you want to plan a time-based work package, there is no other unit that “Hours”:
I have to plan and bill some customer projects in days.
Did you already face this requirement?
What is the best practice in this case?
Thanks for your help 😉
Laurent
Hello laurent.bouvier.delaware ,
Glad to see that you are looking forward to leverage the new functionality.
From your screenshots I see that the progress is in the positive direction. Please see the attached document for some quick screenshots that walk you through the process.
We begin by defining the WBS & billing element as a UBB type unit-based billing. Thereafter, during time-sheet entry, the consultant enters time in hours as usual.
The last step is then to maintain direct activity location to maintain the desired conversion (ex: 8h = 1 peice which could then be technically reflected as a day).
Hope this helps,
Thank you,
Feras

Hi,
Unit based billing was presented quite well as part of J11 in the 1902 Show and Tell, test script and learning centre videos are not updated accordingly. I think you don't want to enter the days manually in this scenario. There is an API available to do this so you could use some side-by-side logic to translate your hours into days.
As far as I know you cannot use other units in the time based scenario.

Jeroen

Hello,
Minor clarification. Planning in 'person days' instead of hours during project creation/maintenance is not what the current 1902 functionality is aimed to provide, rather a mechanism that provides more flexibility in achieving the desired result. That said, planning in person days is a consideration for future development.
Thank you,
Feras
