Hi Joanna,
Here is a little trick: when you are on the configuration screen place the cursor/mouse on the field in question and press F1 to get some explanation. Not always fully helpful, but something 🙂
Please note that the ATP "Scope of Availability Check" configuration screen is rather generic and not all the possible settings are really relevant for the checking rule. In your case SP/B (Delivery ATP) wouldn't consider the dependent requirements, unless you are using Sales BOM, or you also sell the components that you usually use for manufacturing finished goods. E.g. you don't want to commit to sales/delivery if an item is already reserved for production.
See e.g. SP/P1: Production Planning where the Availability Check should include Dependent Requirements (components of the BOM), and with that include the existing Reservations of those dependent items as well. You can specifies whether the system includes reservations assigned to production orders or purchase orders when checking availability. If dependent reservations are to be included, you specify whether all dependent reservations are to be included or only withdrawable reservations.
e.g. Production order generates reservation for the components. When the Prod.order is released, the reservation is "withdrawable" (you can pull the components from stock and consume in the production). You want to make sure that when you plan (ATP) for the components, you do not count these reservations as available.
You may want to look at some rather old but still valid information from the old SAP Community:
https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPLO/Availability+checking+in+SAP
Hope it helps!
