Hello,

how can an employee change from company code XXXX to YYYY and how is this treated in scope item JB1 (Employee Integration - Employee Central Integration).

In S/4HANA Cloud it's not easy or clear to handle this.

Hello David,

From my understanding you have a SFSF EC integration with S/4HANA Cloud already deployed according to the best practice JB1. If this is the case then this scenario of company code transfer for a given employee should be supported. In return, there could be many different reasons as to why the replication is failing or at times stuck in pending status.

From previous experience, make sure to have a logical flow of dates for the initial and new company code hire events at the respective employee's SFSF people profile. Then, the employment status event codes available for configuration via the SAP Cloud Platform iFlow packages to exclude certain events could be revised. Thereafter I invite you to dig deeper into the root cause error that may be provided in either the SFSF OData API Audit logs, SAP Cloud Platform integration monitor and or S/4HANA Cloud EC SFSF Org. Assignment Monitor.

Lastly please find the bellow collective SAP notes that may further assist you:

And lastly thought I would share the below SAP note whereby it indicates that the import employee app does not necessarily support the use-case of company code transfer you mention.

Hope this information is helpful,

Thank you and kind regards,

Very useful for integration between S4HC and SFSF. And the provided Links are important.

Hi all,

there are various things to be mentioned on this.

1) Your cost center assigned to the employee and the employee itself should both be assigned to the same legal entity at all times. So when you check the legal entity of the employee, adjust also the cost center assignment if necessary.

2) When assigning an employee to a new legal entity, create a new employment, meaning terminate and rehire the employee with a new legal entity. Otherwise, various problems on S/4HANA Cloud can result. This is a standard best practice done also by customers using SAP ERP etc.. See in the document

https://help.sap.com/viewer/4b0f4a72b0ea46fb9b9917bdd7c8f29b/latest/en-US/2595395fe27e43c59c47fb000a...

for background on handling legal entity changes and employments

3) In case you integrate with SFSF EC, you should not use the import employee app but maintain all employee data on SFSF EC and then replicate to S/4HANA Cloud, including the legal entity changes.

Few exceptions exist which you can maintain in the fact sheet via other means, but legal entity and cost center assignment belong not to this category.

We will publish an SAP KBA on legal entity handling for JB1 and avoiding issues with it within the next few months.

All such KBAs/ knowledge will be centrally linked on https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2655576, so bookmark this FAQ.

Thanks Andreas
