Creating Application Jobs with a Technical User and not Business User?

Hello,

We have application jobs that are set up in the system that are tied to specific Business Users. In the event a Business Users profile is removed from the system it would appear the Application Jobs associated with that user would no longer be active. After searching for blogs and the S4HC user community, we are unable to find the best practice for this process. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Generally if application job is getting failed due to unavailability of respective business user (too many reasons:- locked, profile removed, etc), & if you want that application job to be continue, then you can copy the same next scheduled job with another user to reschedule it & then cancel the previous scheduled job.

I hope this will help.

sqs_basis So as far as a best practice goes. We should set up a Business User (as a‎ pseudo-technical user) in an effort to create these batch jobs so that we can guarantee these jobs are always running. An example of this would be to set up a Business User profile batch.user@XXX.com and say we want to create a job that sends Customer Statements to the printer every Friday night at 10 pm. We would want to log in using the BU batch.user@xxx.com and create said batch job.

This way we wouldn't have to depend on jobs failing and other users having to copy the batch job in order to run it again. In some cases, we may have a hundred batch jobs that run and it would be labor intensive to have a user go in a copy these batch jobs if a BU's account deactivated ect...

Addition to earlier comment, as customer can only able to create communication user (as Technical user) which is not applicable here to set this user for recurring application job, you can create new business user (which you can treat as technical user). There is an application "Display Technical users" in Identity & Access Management where you only able to modify users you created for communication arrangements. We cannot able to create any new other technical user. Only SAP is able to create support users in back end system to access to provide support as & when required.
