Hello,
We are trying the use "Project with Revenue" in "Project Builder" as the main revenue collector source. However, it seems that this kind of object cannot be used in the sales process and we should use only "Customer Project".
After further investigation, the "Customer Project" is not applicable in our case as it is related to industrial "projects" and not professional services projects...
Is it impossible to use a Project with Revenue in the sales process?
And if it is, what should be the recommandation as analytical axe to collect revenue through sales process?
Kind regards,
Etienne Jacquet
Hello Etienne,
Thank you for sharing your experience so far.
Could you please elaborate on how/why your investigation has concluded that 'customer projects' are not a good fit for professional services projects to be used in revenue and SO processing?
My understanding is that customer projects indeed once set up have an automatic services sales order created for it which allows for subsequent billing. Further, with 1902 we are now able to conduct sales in units and not only based off time.
Hope this information helps,
Thank you,
Feras

Hello Feras,
Thank you for this information. The "Customer Projects" are indeed working properly in the sales process.
However, we are using EPPM instead of Customer Project because:
1. it is more for Controlling purposes, without need to create a team, billing plan, etc.
2. Customer projects allows only one level of WBS and EPPM allows multiple levels.
Kind regards,
Etienne
Thank you for the clarification etienne.jacquet ,
In that case as you mentioned an EPPM project, with the profile set to 'project with revenue' would be suitable.
This would allow you to post journal entries against revenue accounts once the project is released. That said, this type of project is not directly related to a sales order afterwards in the current edition of the solution.
However, it is on the radar and we look forward to expand on the integration capabilities with sales processes in future releases.
Hope this helps,
Thank you and kind regards,
Feras
