Posting Unplanned Depreciation

Good day,

When we try to post "negative" unplanned depreciation (i.e. debit accumulated depreciation) we get the following error message - "The positive/negative sign for amount 1,500.00- in field 'Amount Posted' is not allowed"

We are using transaction type 640 - Unplanned depreciation on prior-year acquisitions.

We are using APP - Post Depreciation Manually - Unplanned and Planned to post unplanned depreciation to depreciation area 15 (Tax).

We have also used APP - Post Miscellaneous Transactions  using transaction type 730. We get error message AA403 when executing this APP.

Hi Nadja,

We figured that we can use TTY 710 - Write-up ordinary depreciation (book and tax).

TTY730 can only be used when there has been unplanned depreciation posted and you want to do a writ-up on that.

Hi Riwa,

I have tried to add a screenshot from both APPS - Post Depreciation Manually & Post Miscellaneous Transactions, but get a message that says "I am not authorised to upload attachments"

We figured that when we use post miscellaneous transactions in our Q system we are able to post a write-up of depreciation, however we get an error message "You cannot post write-ups Message no. AA402" when we execute it in our P system.

Write ups are only allowed on assets with the acquisition of the previous year.

We are trying to post write-ups to previous year acquisitions. This is working in our Q system, but not in our P system.

Hi Andro,

You cannot post negative depreciation using the above transaction type by inputting negative sign. I recommend you use the app "Post Writeup" for writing up depreciation amount.
