Project ID and WBS field character limits

We're looking at establishing some statistical projects in SAP and are wondering what the field character limitations are for the Project Definition ID and then the WBS ID field as well.

The reason I'm trying to find out this information is that we want to make the project id's as intuitive as possible for those that are in AP or Supply Chain issuing the invoices and PO's so they assign them to the correct statistical project.

(If this info is in S/4HC somewhere, it would be great to know how to easily find it).

Thanks!

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

I am not sure what the limitation is for the Project Definition, but I know the Project short description is limited to 40 characteristics. I will look around to see if there is any documentation in regards to the Project Definition.

Best,

rpmuller semantics should be same as ECC for these data elements which is 24 chars length for both project and WBS IDs.

Thanks Riwa, I tried looking in the CDS tables and I couldn't figure out which character limit was which. In ECC it was easy to look in SE16n for the table and field, haven't figured out how to do it here the same way.

The technical fields I appear to be after are PROJ table PSPID field, and PRPS table POSID field.

Thanks!

Thanks Sandeep, what is the best way to find that information in S/4HANA Cloud?

Well you can use F1 and see table-field name information but this doesn't provide data element information. I am not aware of any other way to find this information.

sandeep.kumar Thanks Sandeep. The F1 to get to the technical info is useful (used F1>F4 all the time in ECC)
