Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a way to delete GL accounts or mark them for deletion ?
Thank you.
Hi Djallal,
Accounts cannot be “deactivated” or “deleted”. All G/L accounts delivered via SAP S/4HANA Cloud best practice content will be created in the Q-system and P-system. Un-used accounts need to be mapped to a 999* account. After conversion these accounts can be blocked for posting to avoid unwanted postings. These accounts will also be created in P-system.
Best,
Victor

Hi Victor ( vchatman),
I have a follow up question further to your reply. While I understand we cannot delete accounts that "come off the shelf" with SAP, if I were to create an account manually (so not from any SAP library), would I be able to delete the manually created account? I have a case where an account was created in the wrong sequence of accounts and would need to be deleted.
Thanks in advance for your reaply,
Take care,
Steven

Hi Steven,
Once a G/L account has been created in SAP S/4HANA Cloud it cannot be deleted. In this case, I would advise that you set the relevant flags to block this G/L account for posting on the G/L master data and set the flag, "G/L Account Not Used" flag to "Yes".
Please refer to the following blog where it highlights use cases for when you create G/L accounts in Q but do not want them to be transported to P:
I hope this clarifies.
Best,
Victor
