Generally, what is the extent that existing fields can be customized? Normally, in ECC, the field Delivery Note can be made mandatory. Is this a basic activity in S4HC Extensions? Will SAP allow this?
Unfortunately there is no option to set a standard UI field mandatory.
You can apply Custom Logic (app Custom Fields and Logic) if there is a business context and suitable BAdI available.
E.g. for Purchase orders there is an option to leverage BAdI "Final Check in Purchase Order Before Saving" to force users to fill out certain fields. But the UI itself won't indicate a mandatory field.
I'm not aware of similar object for GR apps.
The only thing you can do is leverage UI Adoption and change the description of the field to e.g. "Delivery Note (Mandatory*)" or similar. Not the best solution but at least users can see the expectation.
