Hello,
we have an issue with following process. An employee was created in S/4HANA Cloud via the excel import template.
This created a personel ID in S/4 - we also assigned an external ID in the excel template.
Now we want to interface with SF EC using the same external ID but when replicating the external ID we get the error in CPI that the external ID is already in use by another Personel ID.
It seems that we cannot link an employee loaded via the excel import to an employee existing in SF EC?
Thanks for your feedback!
Hi David,
you need to use absolutely the same external ID for both the import via Excel and the replication via EC. This means: use upper case letters for the external ID in both cases. E.g., use JMILLER in EC, not JMiller. This is due to S/4 not being able to distinguish lower and upper case letters in this ID.

Let us now in how far this approach is solving your issue.

Hello Andreas,
the capitals are the same in both systems. So the "Person ID" in EC is for example RSKARP and the External ID in S/4 is also RSKARP. The error message also gives the message "External person ID RSKARP is already used for another personnel number"
I guess there is another reason? Should I create a ticket for this?
Hi David,
In case you obeyed all the instructions in https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/0002555311
for the employee import and also the Jb1 scope item set-up guide, I recommend to create a customer incident on component CA-HR-S4 describing your reproducible example to be analyzed in detail. In case you used the same upper case letters for person ID external for the same person, your data should be able to replicate from SFSF EC.
Thanks
Andreas
