Hi everyone,
has anyone closer informations about the customer and material tax categories & classes in Europe (e.g. difference FTX1 and TTX1)?
There are Descriptions for each category-class combination, however, they are not thouroughly clear to me.
I wasn´t able to find fitting information on sap.help and one.support.launchpad.

Hi Jonathan,
Tax category is nothing but the tax condition type like MWST which is configured in sales pricing procedure. In FI terminology, it is called as tax category. A tax category is assigned to a particular country and only then the tax category can be used in Customer or material master.
A tax classification is the classification of customers as tax liable or tax free etc. A tax classification will have a tax code which is configured in FI which will have the percentage of tax.
The most important attributes for the output tax condition types are Condition Class and Condition Category. These two fields should be defined as 'Tax' with a calculation type as Percentage. In such case, the behavior of FTX1 and TTX1 would be exactly the same.
My personal view is that FTX1 is usually used in Europe region and TTX1 in other regions - just as identifiers for each region. Just as a thought - I could be wrong.
Thanks

Hi Jonathan,
You can use this app to set service prices in the sales area. The system uses these prices as standard prices in the service price list in a customer project. When the price for a service is calculated, the system uses conditions that are derived from business data, such as the sales organization or the project ID of a customer project.
However, in the above context, I can suggest a more appropriate app, which is "Set Tax Rates" (Business group - Tax Rates, Role - Tax Specialist).
With this app, you can notice that tax classifications maintained in customer and material master records are linked to tax codes (tax percentages). Based on this assignment, taxes are calculated in a sales order.
